Executive Director of the Year
Greene Arc Executive Director, Cynthia L. Dias, has received the Executive Director of the Year Award from the Arc of Pennsylvania.
A plaque was presented to her in Harrisburg June 24, 2011. The Erman A. Gentile Award is for excellence in management, integrity and advocacy.

Founded by a small group of concerned parents in 1967, the consumer-driven organization continues to grow in scope and commitment as the largest provider of human services for individuals with special needs in Greene County. Headquartered in Prosperity, Pennsylvania, Greene Arc is a chapter of the Arc of the United States and the Arc of Pennsylvania. Greene Arc is a private, nonprofit agency that provides vocational, residential, day support and advocacy services to individuals with disabilities. Annually, nearly 65 staff work to serve more than 100 adults and family members throughout Greene, as well as neighboring counties. These professional staff are complemented by a group of volunteers who work with clients and serve as board members and advisors to the program. It is estimated that three percent of our population have some level of mental retardation or developmental disabilities. For Greene County, that translates to over 1,200 individuals who likely are in need of services.
The Arc is the largest advocacy organization in the United States for citizens with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, and their families.
The Arc’s mission is to work to include all children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities in every community. We promote citizenship and inclusion in every community.
Local Chapters of the Arc focus on providing resources and individual advocacy services.
Being a parent of a special needs child, I know firsthand how important Greene Arc services have been and continue to be for my son and my family through the year.
Greene Arc provides our family with much, much more than just vocational and life skill services. We have caring people involved in our lives who provide a place for my son
to belong, a place where he has made friends for a lifetime, experienced social events and outings with his peers and practiced role modeling in the workplace - all that have a lasting impression on his character as a person.
OPEN ARMS DROP-IN CENTER
The Drop-In Center is located at 30 N. Washington Street in Waynesburg, PA. This program offers a supportive environment for people in mental health recovery. The Drop-In Center is currently open four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, 11:00am to 4:00pm. Open to Greene County Residents eighteen years and older. Members who are currently in mental health recovery are welcome. The center provides socialization opportunities and monthly trips to the Western region CSP meetings in Butler Pennsylvania. Members of the Drop-In Center are encourged to choose a variety of activities to experience together. Open Arms empowers the members to take ownership of the program and all facets of it's operation. This program is fully funded by Value Behavioral Health.
